Intermediate Fairlanes (1962–1965)

Assembly of the 1963 US Fairlane 500 sedan as the FC model was commenced by Ford Australia in November 1962.[9] It featured a revised bonnet, front guards, grille, headlights, and taillights,[9] and was fitted with the “Ford-O-Matic” automatic transmission as standard equipment , and a 260-cubic-inch (4.3 L) Windsor V8 engine was now offered as an option.[10] The Australian production of the 1963 model totalled 1,771 units

From a full size car, the Fairlane became an intermediate sized car in 1962, bridging the gap between the compact Falcon and full size Galaxie. The 4 door was also assembled in Australia replacing the 59-61 ‘Tank Fairlanes’ these new smaller cars were known as the ‘Compact Fairlanes’. Available there from 1962-64 The 1962 FB Fairlanes had a flat grille and tail fins. The 1963 FC Fairlanes had a concave grille and tail fins The 1964 FD Fairlanes had a flat grille and no tail fins 1771 FC Fairlanes were assembled in Australia in 1963 Available in Fairlane and Fairlane 500. Engine; 221 cu in Windsor V8. (260 cu in V8 option) In the US 2 and 4 door sedans were available, 2 and 4 door wagons and a 2 door hardtop
