Growing old Disgracefully

[t4b-ticker]

We didn’t see this problem until nearly home. With the brakes/ Rear lights and switching on the right side indicators on the whole right rear light cluster blinks. From previous experience this sounded like an earth return problem. This is where the return leg will take the path of least resistance. On removal of the rear backplate and circuit. The socket was pretty much as dirty as it gets as seen in the feature image. The globe sockets were pretty dirty, the tail/brake bein gth eworst, which confirms the issue where the return was defaulting to the indicaor light circuit hence the blinking. The assembly was cleaning of the dirt and dust. the flat pins on the socket cleaniend using a bit of emery cloth on a flat edage. Using the dremel with a nylon brush to clean the plastic surfaces. the Dremel round wire brush to clean the insides of the globe sockets.

Put in new Globes, have to rember to post what the replacement globes are – mainly 12v21W . Fixed backtogether and hey presto problem solved

Oh yes one other key issue found was that the tin circuit board plate had lifted ayaway from the base so that wouldn’t of helped. Using past knowledge of plastic welding fixed this up. Wasn’t pretty but worked.
